Hey yall!

Welcome! My blog is about 2/3 OTTB retraining and 1/3 newbie eventer (former hunt seat/equitation girl). Please follow along with my experiences, share insight, and enjoy!

Our Horses

My Three TB's :) Chick, Connor, Me and Lego. I <3 my boys!

Registered Name: The Other Chic
Height: 16.2
Races run: 1 (fractured splint bone during race, was retired)

"Chick" is my first OTTB whom I retrained to do Hunter's. He taught me everything I know! We got him straight off the track, he was a hot-blooded 3 year old, gelded not long before I got him.  He has always been pretty spooky, but has been one heck of a competitor and always tries to please. It took a while, but he has become such an awesome Hunter.

Registered Name: My Friend Lumpy
Height: 17.1
Races Run: 41  ($273,207)

"Connor" was my next OTTB who I began retraining in 2005. He raced until he was 9 and is a California Bred.  I began riding him about 20 days after his last race and he was a DREAM.  Our training was going so well and I've rarely met a horse with more potential.  Unfortunately, he became neurologic in 2008 due to arthritis in his cervical vertebrae from racing for so long. He continues to bless our lives as he romps around in the pasture!

Registered Name: Reel Legend
Height: 17.2
Races run: 11 ($94,308)

"Lego" is my newest project-follow our journey through my blog!  He is a Kentucky bred who I got from Denise Walsh from Timber Bay Farm in 2009 in North Carolina.  He was one of my patients when I was working as a vet tech at NC State's Vet School.  He was retired from racing due to minor respiratory issues which will be taken into consideration as we progress.  We have been cleared to do pretty much anything aside from the speed of racing :)

Dixie is our retired, ex-polo pony mare whose job is to keep the boys in line :)

And we can't forget the sweet mini donkeys! Blue and Icey were welcomed onto the farm in July after Vickie and Mike heard that they needed a home pronto!
